From the early 90's, Carlos made residence in Los Angeles, California, where he along with his brothers built a strong foundation for the systematic teaching of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which eventually became Machado Jiu-Jitsu, a name brand in the popular and fast growing art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After several years of travel for seminars both to civilian and military groups, Carlos decided to move to Dallas, Texas (Oct/95), persuaded by his friend and student Chuck Norris, who was then at the peak of the TV series “Walker, Texas Ranger”. Carlos started a strong following in the Midwest, eventually creating an affiliation program to include locations beyond that area. His association includes several member schools from coast to coast nationwide, and it keeps growing as we speak. He is known as a master of details, and has been very successful at lending his skills to Special Forces soldiers while on seminar tours (Fayetteville, 2000-2006). He has been cover featured in 2007 at “Tap Out” (twice) Magazine and “MA Success” Magazine, some of the main publications covering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. Carlos constantly pursues the refinement of the art in a way to better integrate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with other styles of Martial Arts. Most of his students are experienced or Black Belts in additional disciplines.
Carlos Machado is revered as one of two (the other being Riskson Gracie) leading world authorities in Ground Survival. Sark Security Group R&D has targeted Carlos for his unique abilities in transfering his superior skill into Tactical Military and Law Enforcement operations.
